IJTEG welcomes original scholarly contributions that advance understanding of transnational education and governance. These guidelines apply to all manuscript types. Authors are strongly encouraged to read these guidelines carefully before submission. Enquiries may be directed to editor@ijteg.org.

1. Eligibility & Scope

IJTEG accepts submissions from scholars, researchers, and practitioners worldwide. There are no restrictions on institutional affiliation or nationality. Submissions must be:

  • Original work not previously published and not under consideration elsewhere
  • Written in English throughout, including references
  • Within the journal's thematic scope of transnational education and governance
  • Compliant with all ethical standards described in these guidelines

2. Article Types

Research Articles

Original empirical or theoretical studies. Should present a clear research question, methodology, findings, and discussion. Word count: 3,000–8,000 words (minimum 3,000 words; excluding references and abstract).

Review Articles

Systematic or narrative reviews of existing scholarship on a defined topic. Must demonstrate comprehensive engagement with the relevant literature. Word count: 3,000–8,000 words. (minimum 3,000 words)

Policy Analyses

Critical analyses of education governance policies, regulatory frameworks, or institutional arrangements. Evidence-based; may employ comparative frameworks. Word count: 3,000–6,000 words. (minimum 3,000 words)

Conceptual / Theoretical Papers

Papers that develop or critically interrogate conceptual frameworks relevant to the journal's scope. Must demonstrate scholarly rigor. Word count: 3,000–7,000 words. (minimum 3,000 words)

Minimum length: All submissions must be a minimum of 3,000 words (excluding abstract, references, tables, and figures).

3. Formatting Requirements

  • File format: Microsoft Word (.docx) or OpenDocument (.odt)
  • Font: Times New Roman or similar serif, 12pt
  • Line spacing: Double-spaced throughout
  • Margins: 2.5 cm / 1 inch on all sides
  • Page numbers: Bottom right, from page 1
  • Tables & figures: Embedded in text with captions; also provide in separate files if possible
  • References: APA 7th edition throughout
  • Language: English (American or British, consistently applied)
  • Anonymisation: For double-blind review, remove all identifying information from the manuscript file

4. Manuscript Structure

Title Page (separate file)

  • Full manuscript title
  • All author names, affiliations, email addresses, and ORCID iDs (if available)
  • Corresponding author designation and contact details
  • Word count
  • Acknowledgements and funding statements

Anonymous Manuscript File

  • Title (no author information)
  • Abstract: 150–250 words structured as Background, Aims/Objectives, Methods, Results/Findings, Conclusions
  • Keywords: 4–6 keywords separated by semicolons
  • Main text following standard IMRAD or appropriate structure
  • References (APA 7th)
  • Appendices (if applicable)

5. Submission Process

The online manuscript submission portal is currently under development and will be announced. In the interim, authors are invited to submit manuscripts by email to the editorial office.

Interim Submission: Send your manuscript to editor@ijteg.org with the subject line "Manuscript Submission – [Article Type] – [Short Title]". Include the title page and anonymous manuscript as separate attachments.

  • Separate title page (with author details) and anonymous manuscript file
  • Abstract of 150–250 words
  • 4–6 keywords listed
  • All references in APA 7th format
  • Manuscript meets minimum word count (3,000 words)
  • Manuscript is not under review elsewhere

7. Peer-Review Process

All manuscripts undergo double-blind peer review: author identities are not disclosed to reviewers, and reviewer identities are not disclosed to authors.

  • Initial check: The editorial office reviews submissions for scope, completeness, and minimum quality threshold before sending for review (typically within 1–2 weeks).
  • Review assignment: Manuscripts are sent to at least two independent expert reviewers.
  • Review period: Reviewers are requested to provide reports within 4–6 weeks.
  • Decision: A decision is communicated to the corresponding author based on reviewer recommendations.

8. Editorial Decisions

  • Accept: Manuscript accepted with minor or no revisions.
  • Minor revision: Revisions required; revised version reviewed by the editor.
  • Major revision: Substantial revisions required; re-review by original reviewers.
  • Reject with encouragement to resubmit: Manuscript requires fundamental reworking; a new submission may be considered.
  • Reject: Manuscript does not meet the journal's standards or falls outside scope.

Authors whose manuscripts are rejected after review will receive the reviewers' comments to support future revisions. Appeal procedures are available from the editorial office.

9. Author Fees

IJTEG operates on a transparent author-fee model to sustain open-access publishing and peer-review management. The following fees apply:
